Latest Updated On 24/03/2025: A new directive has been released regarding the pattern of the question paper in the PhD entrance examination to be held in various universities of the state. The Raj Bhavan has said in the order that in the pre-PhD examination, one paper will be multiple choice, while the other will be subjective. After the instruction, Patliputra University has also issued a revised notification by changing the syllabus.


Registrar Prof. NK Jha said that the latest information related to PhD entrance has been released on the university website. The exam pattern has also been released. Under this, one paper will be taken on the basis of multiple choice questions on the OMR sheet. The second paper will be theoretical. Questions will have to be answered in this. Earlier, PhD entrance test was announced in some universities, but it was decided to take the pattern of both the papers of the examination in multiple choice form. After this, the Raj Bhavan showed strictness and banned the examination of Lalit Narayan Mithila University and directed to take the examination on the old pattern. A copy of this has been sent to all the universities by the Raj Bhavan and they have been asked to comply with the instructions in this regard.

According to the current circumstances during the Corona period, the Raj Bhavan had given permission to conduct the examination on OMR sheet for both the papers on the basis of multiple choice questions. Even after the Corona period, till recently, some universities were preparing to conduct the examination on the same pattern. In view of this, the Raj Bhavan has asked to conduct one paper as multiple choice and the other as subjective examination.

PhD OSD Dr. Kumari Seema said that maximum number of seats are in Political Science i.e. 74. Admissions will be taken for 70 seats in Hindi, 5 in Public Administration, 66 in Chemistry, 57-57 in Economics-Psychology, 56 in Botany, 48 in Philosophy, 48 in History, 38 in Physics, 25 in Commerce, 24 in Zoology, 16 in Mathematics, 7 in Electronics, 15 in AI & AS, 12 in Geography, 20 in Sociology, 19 in Home Science, 5 in LSW, 72 in English, 22 in Sanskrit, 12 in Urdu, 2 in Music, 15 in Pali and 7 in Maithili.

PPU Vice Chancellor Prof. Sharad Kumar Yadav said that online applications have been taken from the candidates. 7399 candidates have applied. There are 1581 candidates who will be exempted from pre-PhD test as they have already passed NET, JRF, PAT etc. However, the exam will be held for 5818 candidates. Pre-PhD test will be conducted on April 4 for 803 seats in 25 subjects.
