Live Updates in hindi: 6500 librarians will be recruited in the high schools of bihar
Latest Updated On 15/05/2025: After 14 years, about 6500 librarians will be appointed in the state's high schools for the second time. For this, the education department has prepared the school librarian appointment manual. The education department has sent the manual to the finance department for approval.
After getting the approval of the finance and law department on the manual, the consent of the state cadre committee will be taken on it. After this, the recruitment process will start with the approval of the state cabinet. The aim of the education department is to appoint librarians and allocate schools before the assembly elections. The vacancy will be finalized on the basis of district wise roster. The appointment manual for librarians is on the lines of the school teacher appointment manual.
The pay scale of teachers in high schools will be the same as that of librarians. The competitive examination for appointment will be conducted by Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC). Multiple choice questions of 100 marks will be asked. There will be no deduction of marks for wrong answers. Like state employees, they will also get the benefit of the new pension scheme.
Like state employees, the retirement age limit will be 60 years. Candidates will get the benefit of reservation as per the rules of the state government. Candidates will get relaxation in category wise age limit as per the rules.
Librarians were appointed in high schools in 2010
For the first time, rules were made in 2008 for the appointment of librarians in the state's high schools. Under this rule, applications were taken for appointment on 2596 posts on contract basis. The process was completed in 2010-11. Under this, 2100 librarians were appointed on the lines of employed teachers. At present, 1696 librarians are working in various higher secondary schools. Candidates holding Bachelor of Library Science and Master of Library Science degrees are continuously demanding the appointment of librarians.
