Latest Updated On 20/05/2025: The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has approved Aryabhatta Knowledge University (AKU) Patna to start two new PG courses from the academic session 2025-26.
- Nano Science Technology and Water Resource Engineering approved
- Admissions will be made for 24 seats each in both the courses from this session
The university has got approval for 24 seats each for Nano Science and Technology and Water Resources Engineering courses. No seats will be reserved for foreign nationals, NRIs or under Gulf quota in these courses. AICTE has given approval to the university with conditions, in which the institute will be obliged to make timely faculty appointments, transparent admission process, follow the prescribed fee structure and implement policies related to student welfare. The provision of 10 percent additional seats under EWS reservation will be implemented as per the policy of the state government. AKU Vice Chancellor Prof. Sharad Kumar Yadav said that after this approval of AICTE, new opportunities for high-level research and study will open up in the technical education sector of the state, especially in the field of environmental and emerging technologies, studying under the guidance of experts.
He said that a new postgraduate (PG) course will be started under the School of Astronomy. Preparations are underway to start it in 2025-26 itself. The aim of this initiative is to enrich academic proposals and do research in the field of astronomy. The need for increasing seats in various courses based on the number of students and its possible impact is being considered.
Research opportunities in both courses: There are many employment and research opportunities in both the courses. There are employment opportunities in the field of civil engineering for students pursuing a course in Water Resources Engineering. There are also the employment opportunities in the Water Resources Department. There will also be teaching opportunities in the academic field. Floods are a challenge in Bihar. In such a situation, there will also be new research opportunities in the field of water management of rivers. Research has been done in the fields of agriculture, Ayurveda, water purification in the Department of Nano Technology at AKU. This department has the highest record of research & patents in the university. The department is functioning here since 2013, but has received recognition from AICTE recently.
