Latest Updated On 02/07/2025: The Jharkhand government has given a one-time exemption to teachers from the five-year obligation in Grade Four for promotion to the post of Principal in middle schools. This obligation has been relaxed for once in the absence of teachers working in Grade Four (graduate trained post) for five years. Out of the available posts of Principals, 50-50 percent posts will be reserved for teachers promoted in Grade Four and teachers coming from direct appointment. The School Education and Literacy Department on Tuesday issued a notification of Jharkhand Government Primary School Teacher Promotion Rules 2025.

According to the notification, the basis of seniority for promotion in Grade Four and Grade Seven will be the previous grade receipt date. If the grade receipt date is the same, then the date of birth and if the date of birth is the same, then the alphabet of the name will be. Also, in the districts where any seniority list of Grade Four or more years is prepared, approved or currently under construction, the seniority list will not be prepared afresh. If the consolidated merit marks or merit order of the time of appointment is available, it can be the basis of seniority. For this, no seniority list should have been prepared for four years or more or should not be under preparation at present. Seniority list will be published every year as per the date of December month and promotion will be given as per the vacancy of 1st April. In this, reservation rules of the government will be followed.
