Latest Updated On 10/02/2025: Deputy Chief Minister cum Road Construction Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha has said that the vacant posts of engineers in the department will be filled soon. He said that there are 18 sanctioned posts of Chief Engineer under the department. Eight of these posts are vacant. Some officers are also in additional charge. 18 posts are vacant against the sanctioned 71 posts of Superintending Engineer. 105 posts are vacant against the sanctioned 273 posts of Executive Engineer.

He said that during the departmental review it has become clear that in the last two-three months many officers working on senior posts have retired. Due to this the pace of departmental work is getting affected. I have directed the Additional Chief Secretary of the department to ensure immediate posting on all the posts of Chief Engineer. Those officers who are eligible for posting on the post of Chief Engineer should be given charge of higher post along with pay scale, otherwise the Superintending Engineers working in their own pay scale should be given charge of the post of Chief Engineer, so that officers are working on all the posts of Chief Engineer.

The Deputy Chief Minister said that the responsibility of the Chief Engineer is the most important in all divisions. It is necessary to fill these posts soon for the speedy execution of works. The work of the officials posted on non-cadre posts is also being reviewed. Many officials have been posted in Bihar State Bridge Construction Corporation Limited and Bihar State Path Vikas Nigam for many years. Their work is also being reviewed. About 500 appointments have been made simultaneously on the posts of junior engineers. This will increase the working capacity of the department.
