Latest Updated On 06/04/2025: 1249 new survey workers will be appointed in the state soon. The Revenue and Land Reforms Department has requested the Bihar Joint Entrance Competitive Examination Board to publish the merit list soon.

Revenue and Land Reforms Minister Sanjay Saraogi has directed the department secretary Jai Singh to complete the appointment process of survey workers soon. Earlier, the minister had reviewed the land survey and settlement progress. Officials told the minister that after the appointment of new workers, the number of survey workers will increase to 12511. This will further speed up the work of land survey. The new survey workers to whom the process of giving appointment letters is going on include 49 posts of camp in-charge, 58 of Kanungo, 89 of clerk and the highest number of 1053 posts of Amin. 1249 posts of survey workers are those which were declared vacant when the candidates did not join even after the last opportunity given by the Directorate of Land Records and Measurement for joining.

These are honorarium based contract based posts. In this, the examination was conducted by Bihar Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board for Special Survey Assistant Settlement Officer, Special Survey Kanungo, Special Survey Amin and Special Survey Clerk.


To complete the special survey and settlement in a timely manner, 9888 survey personnel were selected in July last year. These included 353 Special Survey Assistant Settlement Officers, 758 Special Survey Kanungos, 742 Special Survey Clerks and 8053 Special Survey Amins. After getting the appointment letter on July 3 in 2024, they had to contribute in their respective districts between July 4 and 10, but despite being given the opportunity several times, the candidates did not contribute to 1249 posts. Land survey and settlement is the top priority of the state government. A target has been set to complete it by December 2026. This work is being completed in the state in 2 phases. In the first phase, 89 selected zones of 20 districts were included, in the second phase, the work of land survey and settlement has been started in the remaining 445 zones of Bihar.
