Latest Updated On 01/05/2025: More than 30 thousand teachers employed through Panchayat and Municipal bodies will become state employees this year itself. After passing the last two competency examinations, 2 lakh 53 thousand employed teachers of the state have become state employees. 30 thousand 221 teachers have applied to appear in the third examination. The third competency examination is to be held this month.
To become a state employee from a employed teacher, such teachers have to pass the competency examination. Earlier, one lakh 87 thousand 818 teachers across the state became state employees through the first competency examination. 65 thousand 516 employed teachers have become state employees through the second competency examination. The designation of teachers who become state employees from employed teachers has been given Vishisht Shikshak. Earlier, the Education Department had said that two chances would be given to pass the competency examination. Later it was increased to three. Then it was said that employed teachers will be given five chances to pass the competency examination. The 3rd competency examination is to be conduct this month through Bihar School Examination Board. The target will be to publish the result within a fortnight of exam.

Fourth and fifth competency examinations are likely to be held in June and July. To pass the competency exam, general category teachers must secure 40 percent marks. Backward class teachers must secure 36.5% marks, extremely backward class teachers must secure 34% marks and SC, ST, women & Divyang teachers must secure 32% marks. There is a provision to provide all the facilities of a state employee to teachers who become special teachers.
