Latest Updated On 08/06/2025: The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) will start the process of NAAC evaluation with new provisions from July. It is being finalized. Universities and colleges will have to apply with new provisions. NAAC has made preparations for this. The application process was closed since July last year. Due to this, colleges and universities are not able to apply for NAAC.

Director of Higher Education Prof. NK Aggarwal said that educational institutions will be able to apply for NAAC evaluation from July. Preparations are being done by NAAC. He said that BAU, Bhagalpur has received A grade from NAAC. This is the first regular university in Bihar to get A grade.

The number of NAAC evaluated colleges & universities in Bihar is not good. This time as per the suggestions of Dr. Radhakrishnan Committee, NAAC has proposed to began the Basic (Binary) Accreditation from July 2025.
The Executive Committee took the following decisions for educational institutions
1- Cycle 2 and above institutions: These will be allowed to retain the validity of their current grades till Basic Accreditation and MBGL commence. Then they can choose either one based on their preparation.
2- Cycle 1 institutions: These have been given the option to choose Basic Accreditation.
3- Assessment as per existing RAF: If an institution wishes to go ahead with the assessment as per RAF, peer team assessment will be complete through the online mode for the colleges & hybrid mode in case of universities.
