The department has said that there is a shortage of professors and associate professors of various subjects in the state's government medical college hospitals as per the standards of the National Medical Commission (NMC). At the same time, the retirement of working medical teachers is also continuing. In such a situation, there is a shortage of medical teachers.

The department officials say that if the number of associate professors and professors are not working in the institute as per the standard, then there will be difficulty in maintaining the recognition of government medical college hospitals. In view of this, it has been decided to appoint academic vacancies on contractual basis as per the minimum standards of NMC.
