Latest Updated On 28/09/2025: To expedite the work of municipal bodies, vacant positions will soon be filled. Recently, the Urban Development Department has created 15,628 positions. Of these, 11,244 positions remain vacant. These positions will be filled soon.

Bihar has experienced rapid urbanization over the last ten years. As a result, the number of municipal bodies has increased from 142 to 264. The urban population has increased from 10.87% to 15.25%. To maintain and monitor the smooth functioning of municipal bodies due to the increase in urban population, the Urban Development Department has created 15,628 new positions in various branches. This includes positions in the Engineering Organization. In addition to the Urban Development Department, these positions will be filled in Municipal Corporations, Municipal Councils, and Nagar Panchayats.

The Urban Development Department has initiated the recruitment process. Some positions have already been filled, and the remaining positions will be filled soon. 246 positions have been created for C&D, GIS, and Draftsman. Appointments to these positions will be made in the coming month. 263 positions have been created for legal assistants, assistant legal officers, and legal officers.
107 Assistant Town Planning Supervisor Posts
In addition, 289 Executive Officer positions have been created, of which 59 are currently vacant. Twenty-eight City Manager positions have been filled, though a total of 373 positions remain vacant. 290 Assistant Public Sanitation and Waste Management Officer positions have been created. 107 Assistant Town Planning Supervisor positions have been created, of which 36 are vacant. 62 Assistant Municipal Planning Officer and Municipal Planning Officer positions have been created, and 893 positions have been created for the Bihar Integrated Urban Engineering Organization.
