Around five thousand of these posts will be permanent appointments, the proposal for which has been prepared by the Health Department. At the same time, appointments are to be made on 5006 contractual posts, for which applications have also been received by the State Health Committee.

According to the information received from the department, the appointment of ANMs on permanent posts will be done through Bihar Technical Service Commission. Soon the requisition regarding this appointment will be sent to the commission. The department official said that efforts are being made to issue the advertisement for appointment on permanent posts before the code of conduct. So that the appointment process is not interrupted due to the election and the appointment is done on time. On the other hand, ANMs are being recruited on 5006 vacancies on the contract basis under the National Health Mission (NHM).
The government will give 15 thousand rupees honorarium per month to the ANMs appointed on these posts. After satisfactory performance, the service period of ANN appointed on contract will be continued for further period. These nurses will be posted in the Primary Health Centres, Additional Primary Health Centres, Urban Primary Health Centres under the National Urban Health Programme.
