Latest Updated On 19/12/2025: Finance Committee of Patliputra University (PPU) approved a budget of Rs 839 crore for the academic session 2025-26. The budget shows a deficit of Rs 673 crore. The largest expenditure in the university's budget is proposed for salaries and pensions, highlighting the university's financial challenges. The university's expenditure on salaries is shown as Rs 3,01,53,67,199 and on pensions as Rs 1,71,66,17,212. The university receives an income of Rs 166 crore from various sources.
The meeting was chaired by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Upendra Prasad Singh. Several important academic and administrative decisions were also taken during the meeting. The fee structure for the M.Com Self-Financing course was approved. According to the proposal, students will have to pay a total of Rs 36,000 over four semesters. In addition, the fee for the PhD course was also determined. As per the decision, research scholars enrolling in the PhD program will have to pay a fee of Rs 5,000. Currently, the enrollment fee for PhD is Rs 2,000.

According to the university administration, the self-financing courses will not only provide students with opportunities for vocational education but will also help increase the university's revenue. The M.Com Self-Financing course has been started at TPS College. This course has 30 seats. University officials stated that there is increasing interest among students for this course and there is a possibility of starting it in other affiliated colleges in the future.
Concern expressed over the university's financial situation: During the discussion on the budget, members expressed concern over the university's financial situation. The Finance Committee also agreed on exploring new sources of income, increasing the number of self-financing and vocational courses, and strengthening financial management to reduce the deficit.
Registrar Prof. Abu Bakar Rizvi, FA Shashi Ranjan, FO Desh Prakash, Controller of Examinations Prof. Manoj Kumar, Dean Prof. Rajiv Ranjan, and several other officials were present at the meeting.
