Latest Updated On 26/05/2025: By the end of June, the appointment of about 2200 Shiksha Sevaks or Tola Sevaks will be completed in the state. The Education Department had instructed all the districts to fill the vacant posts of Shiksha Sevaks on priority basis by the end of June.

Under the Akshar Aanchal scheme in the state, there is a provision for their appointment in Dalit, Mahadalit, minority backward class tolas. Under this scheme, 28 thousand posts of Shiksha Sevaks and Talimi Markaz are approved in the districts. In the minority backward class tolas, they are known as Talimi Markaz. The primary job of Tola Sevaks is to ensure that all the children in their area go to school. They also help in enrolling children in school and ensuring their regular attendance. They take children from their homes to school. Especially those children who have trouble going to school due to various reasons.

Tola Sevaks meet the parents of the children & motivate them to send their children to school. They also tell them about the importance of children's education. They also solve the problems faced by the children of these tolas in their studies. They also help in the establishing communication between parents & teachers. Not only this, Tola Sevaks also help in the implementation of various schemes related to Dalits, Mahadalits and minorities. They also make people aware about these schemes.
The minimum qualification for a Tola Sevak is to pass Matriculation. There is a provision to give priority in selection to the candidate of the Tola for which the Tola Sevak is to be appointed. They are selected at the Panchayat level. The minimum age limit for Tola Sevak is 18 and maximum 45 years. Candidates with teaching experience are given priority. Selected candidates will get the responsibility of work after training.
